“Some ideas are not born of logic and good sense. They are made of clouds and cobwebs. They sprout from nowhere and feed on excitement, sprinkled with adventure juice and the sweet flavor of the forbidden. The psyche moves from the realms of the ordinary and takes a delicate step towards the unknown. We know we shouldn’t and that is exactly why we do.”
― Brigid Lowry
What are your dreams? No, not the things you dream at night, but your dreams, desires and longings? What do you really want to accomplish in your life?
What actions have you taken to get your dream off of the ground?
If you’re like most people you haven’t taken your dreams seriously. You might be thinking dreams are for those other people, those people who have the time, the money, the …., the something you don’t have.
Your life has the greatest meaning, the greatest potential when you put into energy and heart into living out one of your dreams. Think about it, what makes you come alive most? Is it the work you are doing now? Is it?
Take a step towards living that dream. Maybe it’s making a small change in your life. Maybe it’s taking a vacation that you’ve been thinking about for years. Maybe it’s time right now to start doing rather than dreaming about your dream.
Explore the dream … see what a dream can look like for you.
Look at Josh’s idea of a dream.

What are you driven to do? What ideas, concepts, dreams or thoughts just cause an increase in the flow of adrenaline in your heart?
We all have something that we are really good at. Many times the dream is undiscovered or lying undercover waiting for it to be unwrapped and released. All too often those dreams are not being realized because there is no courage to go with the dream.
A dream without action is more like a cloud. A few wisps floating in the air and the moment you realize that something should be done the opportunity is gone. A dream has to be worked on, beat on, sweat on, believed in, churned, refined, and lived. When you live your dream you will live life.
Years and years ago I had a dream. The dream was locked into the heart and mind and nothing was going to deter that dream from being realized. The opportunity would not have existed if no action was taken. The opportunity had to be created and that meant sacrificing one thing to get another. The dream was fulfilled. In the space of time that it took to execute on the dream I had the chance to talk to people and they said, “I wish I were younger and then I could have done that.”
Living a dream takes courage, it takes action, and it takes commitment.
What are you committed to?
Do you have a dream that you are longing for?
Do you have the courage to live your dream?
What steps would you have to take to begin living your dream?
“Dreams pass into the reality of action. From the actions stems the dream again; and this interdependence produces the highest form of living.”
The minute you alter your perception of yourself and your future, both you and your future begin to change. Marilee Zdenek
Replace your coulds, woulds, shoulds with “will”. What would your statements look like if you replaced excuses for change with “I will do _____________”.
Repeat this in your mind or out loud, “My mind is always focused on the positive.” Every time a statement that is not positive enters your consciousness replace it with that phrase. Look for the positive in everything you do and you will find it.
Chose to be happy. Chose to be smart. Chose to be alive. Chose to be active. Chose to be friendly. Chose to be thankful.
Here’s one, “I commit to doing only what I can do.” Apply relentless focus on your day, hours and minutes, make each one count and be intentional on what counts.
Change won’t happen overnight. The words you say to yourself can change, repeat the positive and keep it circulating in your head. It takes work and practice.
The better the attitude, the better the results.
When will you start focusing on the positive?

” You are everthing that is,
your thoughts, your life, your dreams come true.
You are everything you chose to be.
You are as unlimited as the endless universe.” Shad Helmstetter
“Promise yourself to dream more and hesitate less.
To believe in yourself more
and judge yourself less by
the accomplishment of others.” Deanna Beisser
Dream more and hesitate less. How is it that our dreams shrink back when we hesitate to turn those dreams into goals and into action? How many opportunities will slip by when we hesitate to take action?
When we hesitate we lose momentum, when we lose momentum we lose the power to create. The waterwheel was used to power 19th century factories and it was the engine of the economy. When the water stopped moving so did the waterwheel and so did the factories.
Hope is the fuel of dreams. Robert Kennedy said, “Each time a person stands up for an idea, or acts to improve the lot others, or strikes out against injustice, (s)he sends forth a ripple of hope, …”. Action is a dream that has momentum. Action is what sees a dream turn into a creative river of possibilities.
Now, sometimes we just need to step back and relax ….

“We are like sculptors, constantly carving out of others the image we long for, need, love or desire, often against reality, against their benefit, and always, in the end, a disappointment, because it does not fit them.” Anais Nin
A photograph like a sculpture is a snapshot in time. Some people are just like that fixed in time unwilling to change or to adapt to become who they really are. Others copy an image in an effort to be more like that image refusing their own image. The beginning of freedom is recognizing that the picture is dynamic and that it must change.
Change begins with a thought, the thought that change must begin. The direction of change is in alignment with values, beliefs, strengths, abilities, desires, passions, and dreams which need to be cultivated and developed.
What change are you holding back on that will bring about freedom?

“Our chief want is someone who will inspire us to be what we know we could be.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
“So why do I talk about the benefits of failure? Simply because failure meant a stripping away of the inessential. I stopped pretending to myself that I was anything other than what I was, and began to direct all my energy into finishing the only work that mattered to me. Had I really succeeded at anything else, I might never have found the determination to succeed in the one arena I believed I truly belonged. I was set free, because my greatest fear had already been realised, and I was still alive, and I still had a daughter whom I adored, and I had an old typewriter and a big idea. And so rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life.” J.K. Rowling June 2008 Harvard Commencement Speech
“I like to think about the hero’s journey in other terms. I like to think about a little boy who is being encouraged to leave a safe, known and desirable place to journey to a place that he has only been told about. I like to think of those blue-collar laborer who, after an agonizing deliberation, decides to risk the job rather than follow an unethical behavior. I like to think about the hero’s journey in terms of you and me and our continual search for meaning and definition in life. “ R. E. Quinn “Deep Change”
Inspiration, risk and failure and come together when we decide we need to change. Fear inhibits us from being all that we can be. Inspiration informs of us of what we could be. Risk is the step we must take to become all that we can be.
How often do we operate in pretense? We have to know who we are and what we can do and that can be frightening if we hold doubt in our hands and let it overtake what we know and want to be true. It is so easy to talk ourselves out of change. It is so easy to quit the race.
When we set the goals, create the plan and begin to execute the plan we should have someone who is willing to hold us to those goals.
Read these words by Kierkegaard, “If I were to wish for anything, I should not wish for wealth and power, but for the passionate sense of the potential, for the eye which, ever young and ardent, sees the possible. Pleasure disappoints, possibility never.”
Seek the passion of the plan. Seek the passion of the goals. Seek the passion of realizing a dream. Begin now!

Here are some powerful words from Goethe,
“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back —
Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth that ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment of one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin it now.”
When we take that first step we can realize something far beyond what we thought possible. What is stopping you? Take that first step today.
