Attitude of gratitude

Gratitude is the lubricant for the soul. When we offer gratitude we begin to experience the positive aspects of life. Gratitude becomes a doorway into our inner being where joy can begin to do its work. Gratitude generates positive emotions with the outcome being that we desire to help others in need.

An interesting experiment was done a number of years ago that tested the gratitude theory. Researchers left a dime in the coin return of a pay phone. Those people who found the time were much more likely to help someone in need shortly thereafter. Those who didn’t find a coin in the coin return of the pay phone were much less likely to help someone. Consider for a moment that something as small as a thin dime encouraged people to go out of their way to help someone else.

“To speak gratitude is courteous and pleasant, to enact gratitude is generous and noble, but to live gratitude is to touch Heaven.” Johannes A. Gaertner

A powerful way to transform our day or week is to practice the attitude of gratitude. Provide authentic and genuine encouragement to those you work with and see if it makes your day lighter and their day brighter.

What things in your everyday life are you thankful for? Can you come up with just a few items?
