Reflect

“Each of us is here for a brief sojourn; for what purpose he knows not, though he senses it. But without deeper reflection one knows from daily life that one exists for other people.”  Einstein

“Knowing others is wisdom, knowing yourself is enlightenment.”  Lao Tzu

Take a moment and reflect on this past week.

What did you learn?

Did you thank someone?

Did you find joy in your week?

Did you find peace in your week?

Write down the high points from the past week?   Can you repeat them?

Take a deep breath – exhale – relax and refresh your mind.

  1. Wow Dan,

Looks like our philosophies are closely aligned. I just happen to be working the “cross-cultural” angle.

I’m a cross-cultural management consultant who specializes in Japan-US business relations–not a “leadership coach” by any stretch of the imagination. Interestingly, our areas of focus have a lot of overlap.

Check out my blog…our themes are very similar:

    Look forward to checking back.

    • Tim,

Philosophically I think you are right. I also have a background in processes (Deming, Lean, …) as well. I certainly would like to see people start thinking about the quality of processes rather than how people can be sacrificed.

What kind of leader does it take to look at the people first and then at themselves last?

I am going to read more of your blog shortly. My initial review says that your perspective about American vs Japanese car manufacturing is spot on. I’m not a fan of unions nor am I a fan of self-absorbed leadership (which isn’t leadership, it is really just sloppy management).

      Dan
