“Deep within man dwell those slumbering powers; powers that would astonish him, that he never dreamed of possessing; forces that would revolutionize his life if aroused and put into action.”
Orison Swett Marden
“Do it now! You never know how many tomorrow’s you may have!” Michael Landon June 1991
“A man who suffers before it is necessary, suffers more than necessary.” Seneca
What are we trying to achieve?
What are we trying to avoid?
Each of those two statements are statements that motivate us to do things, seek pleasure or run from pain. We often seek happiness to avoid the opposite, pain. Sometimes people turn to some form of medication to avoid pain only to realize that the pain keeps chasing them around.
It is important to answer the above questions in order to determine what motivates you. Are you running away from something or running towards something. Running towards something is a means of creating positive change in your life. While running away often seems like it is moving in the wrong direction. What direction do you want to run?
Set some goals that represent the future you desire to create.
Work on the goals daily.
Review your progress frequently, and ask yourself, “Am I on track?”
Keep it up – keep working towards your goals even when it is difficult to do so.
