moving on …

“It is for us to pray not for tasks equal to our powers, but for powers equal to our tasks, to go forward with a great desire forever beating at the door of our hearts as we travel toward our distant goal. ”  Helen Keller
What stands in your way of defining the success you desire?

What stops you from moving on?

People, many people are stuck somewhere in their life.   Stuck with a job they don’t like.  Stuck in a relationship that isn’t working for them or stuck because they aren’t in a relationship at all.   Stuck because they can’t make enough money to do the things they would like or to make enough to give them a sense of security.
Then there are others who appear to have it all.   They have the big home, the big paycheck, and the relationship that looks wonderful.   From the outside it looks like their life is a life of dreams and yet when you look inside there is worry, fear and doubt, the inability to move forward.

Much of the dissatisfaction in life appears to arise from the fact that there is no defined mission, purpose and vision for life.   For many people happiness was defined in chasing a goal, any goal, in the hope that once that goal was reached life would be “happier”.

For what reason do you do what you do?   What compells you to move forward or not?

Dean Ornish a famous cardiologists wrote, “The real epidemic in our culture  is not only physical heart disease, but also what I call emotional and spiritual heart disease – that is the profound feeling of lonliness in our culture with the breakdown of social structures that used to provide  us with a sense of connection and community.  It is, to me a root of the illness, cynicism, and violence in our society.”

The notion that society is decaying in some measure can be found in the fact that more and more people are dissatisfied with their lives and that they feel like they can’t move on to a better future.   For some, perhaps many, there is this idea that life is a trap and once you get in you can’t get out.    How do you move on?
