Desire

“Desire is the key to motivation, but it’s the determination and commitment to an unrelenting pursuit of your goal — a commitment to excellence — that will enable you to attain the success you seek.”  Andretti, Mario

What causes you to get out of bed in the morning?   It might be an obligation to do something, an obligation to another person, or an event.   It might be easier to ask, what keeps you in bed in the morning.    Maybe there isn’t anything compelling that would create the desire to get out of bed.

Activation energy is the term used that raises the energy to a level that allows us to get out of bed.   The amount of energy that it takes to get out of bed is the same amount of energy that it takes to create change in your life.   It is desire.  What creates that desire?

Take a look at Tony Robbins talks about desire.   It is a force that we have that once unleashed can create wonders.

Desire lives in an emotional well.   If there is no way to tap into that well then we aren’t going to achieve the results we so desperately want.   It takes time to dig the well deep enough to use those resources.  Emotion fuels athletes, it fuels corporate executives, it fuels politicians, it fuels the nurse in the middle of the night, it fuels the crying baby, it fuels that dream that you have and it fuels life. Tap into your desires today!

What are you waiting for?   Start now …

“When it’s time to die, let us not discover that we have never lived.” -Henry David Thoreau

Conceptualization

“Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”
― Napoleon Hill, Think and Grow Rich

If there is an idea in your mind that could turn into something of value them make that idea real.   The simple formula of what the mind can conceive and then turn into a belief that it can be done, can be done.

What inspires people to take action?   What does it take to move an idea from a concept into something that can be believed?  Where does the creative spark come from?

Once that spark has been set in place and has room to grow that idea becomes bigger.  The idea is shared with someone, and then someone else and they say, “Go do it, go do it!” and  for some reason it sits in a dormant place and never is realized.   It becomes another regret in a sea of past regrets.  It wasn’t that the idea wasn’t good enough, or big enough or bold enough, it was that the idea wasn’t believed in strongly enough for it to come to life.

Take the idea and let it live.

It’s time.  It’s time for your concept to grow wings and come alive.

Where do ideas come from?   Take a look at this video and learn a new way to think.

Conceive, believe and then achieve.

“Creativity is a great motivator because it makes people interested in what they are doing. Creativity gives hope that there can be a worthwhile idea. Creativity gives the possibility of some sort of achievement to everyone. Creativity makes life more fun and more interesting.”
― Edward De Bono

believe in you

“The unreal is more powerful than the real. Because nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it. Because its only intangible ideas, concepts, beliefs, fantasies that last. Stone crumbles. Wood rots. People, well, they die. But things as fragile as a thought, a dream, a legend, they can go on and on. If you can change the way people think. The way they see themselves. The way they see the world. You can change the way people live their lives. That’s the only lasting thing you can create.”  Chuck Palahniuk, Choke

Believe!   What do you believe about yourself?

I believe I am ________________________.

What would you put in that sentence stem?   What do you believe?  What do you want to believe about yourself?   I have found that many people tend to believe on the worst thing about themselves.   Many believe things such as “I am not good enough”.   Those words ripple through their body and stun their soul into inaction.   How can you do great things if you don’t believe that you can?

“I am not good enough”, it impacts all areas of life.  What would it be like if those words didn’t echo in your mind like a stray bullet?   What would it be like to say “I am good enough” and believe it?  What would that mean to you?

What would it feel like to shift the message that rings around in your head to something that would shift your confidence and belief in yourself to something positive and beneficial?

Here are some steps to take to shift the internal messages to something that will bring about confidence.

1. Think about a time you were successful and think about what it felt like.

2. Sink negative messages with new words of “I can”.

3.  Face the fear and send it on its way.  That is examine the fear you feel and test it.  Is it real or is it a belief  you have.  If it is a belief replace the belief with facts rather than fiction.

4. Be present.  Focus on what you can do right now.

5. Write down and capture your feelings and understand what is behind them.

It takes practice to shift your dominant thoughts from “I am not good enough” to “I am good enough”.

“As long as you have life and breath, believe. Believe for those who cannot. Believe even if you have stopped believing. Believe for the sake of the dead, for love, to keep your heart beating, believe. Never give up, never despair, let no mystery confound you into the conclusion that mystery cannot be yours.”
Mark Helprin,  ‘A Soldier of the Great War’

believe

“The unreal is more powerful than the real. Because nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it. Because its only intangible ideas, concepts, beliefs, fantasies that last. Stone crumbles. Wood rots. People, well, they die. But things as fragile as a thought, a dream, a legend, they can go on and on. If you can change the way people think. The way they see themselves. The way they see the world. You can change the way people live their lives. That’s the only lasting thing you can create.”
Chuck Palahniuk, Choke

Imagine and then believe.

It starts with an idea something as small as a spark and it can set into motion great movements.   So often people get stuck and back away from living life full out.   Rather than challenge each day they witness the day from behind the front lines of change.   Where do you stand in the challenge of each day, on the forefront or in the background.

Take a look at this video clip and learn to understand what belief can do.  What can belief do for you?

What do you believe about yourself?

What do you believe about your abilities?

What do you believe about your dreams?

What do you need to change about your beliefs?   Take the time to write the answers down and then take the time to reflect on what you believe.

What are your beliefs costing you?

How are your beliefs supporting you?

This year take time to check your beliefs and then push, pull and tug on those beliefs that will allow you to live the life you want to live.  Take your beliefs to a higher level.  Take your life to a higher level.

When?  Today!  Right now!   It’s time to expand your life and challenge your beliefs.

Excuses

“People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don’t believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can’t find them, make them.” George Bernard Shaw

Excuses …. how many do you make in a single day?   There is always a reason not to do something and that reason is most likely an excuse.   Excuses become habits and habits become a way of life.

What is the origin of excuses?    When people are feeling disempowered one way to recover that power is to redirect the negative energy towards something else.    If there was no personal threat then excuses would never need to be uttered.

To live to your full potential  excuses must be replaced by  responsibility.

Popular  excuses:

1.It is too hard

2. I don’t have the time.

3. I am not good enough

4. I don’t have the money

5. I’m not smart enough

6. I’m too old or I’m not old enough

7. I don’t have the experience

8. I’m afraid

9. I don’t deserve to be successful

Which excuse is your favorite?    What popular excuse do you use on a regular basis?

When someone asks you what you really want to do,  do you follow that up with, “I don’t have the time, …, it’s true”.    What are you really saying when you say ,”it’s true”.    Does the “it’s true” statement validate your excuse?   Of course it is true for you.   Why should it be that way?    What would it take to counter the excuse?

What happens when we live behind the door of excuses?   What do you think that does to your life?

For the next week write down all the excuses you make.  Just notice them and write them down.   At the end of the week, notice what excuses you were making and how often you were making them.    What does that tell you?

Live without excuses.

achieve

“The truth of the matter is that there’s nothing you can’t accomplish if: (1) You clearly decide what it is that you’re absolutely committed to achieving, (2) You’re willing to take massive action, (3) You notice what’s working or not, and (4) You continue to change your approach until you achieve what you want, using whatever life gives you along the way.” Anthony Robbins

2011 has come to an end  and now it is the beginning of 2012, how did  2011 go for you?   What did you achieve?   This is a great time to sit down and write down the things that you were going to do and matching that to what you really did do.   What did you do?

What lessons did you learn from the past year?   What will you do differently in the coming year?

It is time to program your mind for success.   It is time to write down goals for this year and put them in a place where you can see them on a daily basis.   Ideally they would be tacked to something you are going to view daily.    Read the goals daily and ask yourself what are you doing to bring you closer to achieving those goals.

Make achievement a practice and then practice achievement on a daily basis.   There are plenty of people who are resisting improving their life don’t be one of them.   If the TV is on turn it off.   Create a new habit that supports your goals.
