attitude is

“If you think you are beaten, you are;
If you think you dare not, you don’t.
If you’d like to win, but think you can’t
It’s almost a cinch you won’t.
If you think you’ll lose, you’ve lost,
For out in the world we find
Success being with a fellow’s will;
It’s all in the state of mind.

If you think you’re outclassed, you are:
You’ve got to think high to rise.
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.
Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man,
But soon or late the man who wins
Is the one who thinks he can.”
― Walter D. Wintle

Do you believe you can?

Do you have the attitude of a winner?

What will it take to create a better attitude in you?

awareness

“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive. ”
Howard Thurman

Awareness.   When did you become aware that you weren’t happy?   When did you become aware that your job wasn’t as good as you hoped it would be?   When did you become aware that your significant relationship wasn’t going where you had desired it would go?   When did you become aware that your finances weren’t going to be enough?   When did you first become aware?

Many people aren’t aware that they want to make a change or what to change.    It isn’t as though they aren’t feeling comfortable with the way things are going, they aren’t comfortable but they aren’t aware of what they really want either.

You can be aware of pain but not aware of the source of pain and being aware allows you to look beyond the pain to the source of the pain.

There are two domains of awareness, your personal awareness or being self-aware and then external awareness which is knowing what is happening around you.    When we are aware we see things differently.  We pay more attention to the things in our environment.   We notice noises, temperature, food, music, what we touch and more.   We become more alive when we are aware.   Sometimes that awareness is also frightening.   We can also ignore what we don’t want to experience and that deadens our lives or pushes us into darkness.

Here’s a question you can answer to begin testing your awareness.

When you are at your best you are __________________________________ ?

Fill in the story.   What did you notice?  What did you feel or sense when you described your best?

Increase you awareness of the world around you by noticing the beauty that is nearby.

Write down 5 things that you see that are beautiful.

Now, write down 5 things about yourself that you appreciate.

What did you realize or learn as a result of becoming aware of you and your surroundings?

If you can control a mans thinking, you don’t have to worry about his actions. If you can determine what a man thinks you do not have worry about what he will do. If you can make a man believe that he is inferior, you don’t have to compel him to seek an inferior status, he will do so without being told and if you can make a man believe that he is justly an outcast, you don’t have to order him to the back door, he will go to the back door on his own and if there is no back door, the very nature of the man will demand that you build one.  Carter G. Woodson

be confident

“Life is not easy for any of us. But what of that? We must have perseverance and above all confidence in ourselves. We must believe that we are gifted for something and that this thing must be attained.” Marie Curie

What is confidence?

Confidence is the ability to believe in our strengths and talents.   That’s basically all there is to it.   The ability to believe in yourself as you are.   Often people believe that they should be like someone else, maybe the executive, or the person “who has it all together” or “the rich one”, or “the famous one”, or anyone but me.

Confidence what is it?   What are you confident about?   Some poeple are confident that bad things will happen to them and because that is what they expect it happens.   Maybe you know some people like that.  People who create problems for themselves.
What does it take to get confidence?   It takes a desire to change.   It takes a desire to start to believe in the gifts and talents you already have.

Syndey Harris writes, “Ninety percent of the world’s woe comes from people not knowing themselves, their abilities, their frailities, and even their real virtues.   Most of us go almost all the way through life as complete strangers to ourselves.”

What would happen if you knew yourself, not as you think you are but as you really are?

Here’s a quick quiz you can take.

How would you rate your success?  0 = Very Low,  10  = Very high
How would you rate your optimism?   0 = Very Low, 10  = Very high
How would you rate your purpose?   0 = Very Low, 10 = Very high
How would you rate your gratefulness?  0 = Very Low , 10 = Very high
How would you rate your health?  0 = Very Low , 10 = Very high

Now replace, “How would your rate your …”, with “I am”.
And read it out loud,  what did you feel or think?
What would you like to think?

What would it be like for you to be confident in you?
What would it take to make the changes you really desire?

face fear

“You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience by which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, ‘I lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.”  Eleanor Roosevelt

What fears have you faced and overcome?

What have you learned when you confronted your fears?

What can you do the next time you face a fear?

You can

Do you believe that?  You can!  You will!

The power of positivity can transform a life.  The words we use – I can – I will – I am – are words of power.

Start your day with an action – “I will”, or “I can” or a belief “I am”.   Those are words that you own that can not be taken away from you.   I own my destination – I own this minute.

I can make a difference.  You can!

I am and I will.

You might be missing one thing – a plan!   How will I do what I need to do?

What steps do you need to take to make it happen?

Here is a simple rule to apply to that plan.  Make it a SMART plan.

Make it Specific.

Make it Measureable.

Make it Actionable.

Make it Realistic.

Make it Timely.

That is right make a specific plan – focus.

Make it measurable – how are you going to know you are done?

Make it actionable – the plan has to be something doable.

Make it realistic – do something that is going to matter, has value, and meaning.

Make it timely – start today, and have a date to complete the plan.

Yes, you can!
