“We are all inventors, each sailing out on a voyage of discovery, guided each by a private chart, of which there is no duplicate. The world is all gates, all opportunities.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
Life is a voyage an endless sea of opportunity spreads out before us. As the sailor climbed to the highest point on the tallest mast to see if he could see land, he took a risk to observe the destination. Climbing the rigging was risky, and even more so hanging on to the mast as the seas tossed the boat. Opportunity is coming your way what are you going to do about it?
When will you courageously climb the mast and look beyond the horizon? It is there you’ll find what you are looking for.
Have you walked on a sandy beach and left your footprints in the sand. Have you noticed that when you stop and look back at those footprints they have been washed away by the incoming tide? The wave gently erases our past as you walk on the beach. Your footprints only last for a short while.
Life is much like your footprints. While those footprints may be visible for a short time eventually they are washed away. It is only where you stand that you let your presence be known. When you step away the footprints will be filled in by the rushing water.
You need to be present today where you are and you need to make a difference today. Life isn’t about what you have done it is about what you are doing.
When you watch the tide come in and wash your footprints away do you lament the fact that your presence has been washed out to the sea? Or do you look forward to the next step you will make. You will make a new impression on the sand and for a moment that will be your signature.
“One does not discover new lands without consenting to lose sight of the shore for a very long time.” – Andre Gide
And one does not discover their self without consenting to look beyond the present.
