“Welcome every morning with a smile. Look on the new day as another special gift from your Creator, another golden opportunity to complete what you were unable to finish yesterday. Be a self-starter. Let your first hour set the theme of success and positive action that is certain to echo through your entire day. Today will never happen again. Don’t waste it with a false start or no start at all. You were not born to fail.” Og Mandino

“Be aware of wonder. Live a balanced life – learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some. “
For many balance is out of the question, it is more like what can be done to survive each day. There are just a lot of things going in in life and it seems that balance is just another word that gets used but means little in terms of creating a better life.
So, what is balance in life? How do you get to a place where more things are clicking than clacking? What does balance mean to you? Where do you find balance?
Balance implies things are level, that work can be balanced with the needs of family life, relationships, personal development and health. Fitting all the things that everyone is telling you is necessary into one day can be too much and when too much is knocking at your door that often means frustration, anger, disappointment, and even depression.
Some ways to deal with work/life balance
are to create open space in your life. Create some pockets of time where you aren’t required to deliver anything, a time to step back and think and reflect. Reflection is an important activity for creating space for yourself to decompress from all the business that happens in a day.
Give up, that is give up things that aren’t supporting you and your goals. There is no “need” to cram more into your life and what might work better is to take some things out that aren’t allowing you to experience joy and happiness. There might be a meeting that can be dropped from each week.
The Mayo clinic
has some work life balance suggestions that may help reduce the stress of a life that is out of balance.
What would you like to change in your life so that it would be better for you?
